Taxis, Paris 16

Two collectors of hyperrealistic art – who, thanks to the ‘huge canvas’ of the Internet (known, appropriately, as the grande toile in French), subsequently became close friends of mine – wanted to monitor the gradual creation of this ‘huge canvas’ depicting their attractive neighborhood in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. With the work posted up online every day over the 10 months of its creation, they were able to follow its progress at a distance, via the internet, until the day it was first displayed, inaugurated and celebrated with considerable talent by its new owners… who had the surprise to discover themselves in the painting, caught reading a newspaper on the pavement… I offer my sincere thanks to them both!
